MIDLIFE FRIENDSHIP SUPER POWERS
Do you use your double milestone super powers?
They come in handy when we're getting acquainted with a potential
new friend.
Extraordinarily bright and clearly marked signals alert us if this will be
a non-reciprocal (one-sided) friendship.
We are so done with those.
Our sharpened senses alert us to run away
If only these super powers would work their magic on one-sided
long-time friendships.
Our double milestone heightened awareness highlights (shouts out)
the one-sided nature of these old friendships.
But ... we have been friends forever and running away is not so easy.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Do you think forever-friends and potential new friends require different strategies?
Maybe, maybe not.
The only way to find out is to experiment.
UNHOMEWORK
Continue using the 'reciprocal only' policy on potential friends.
Apply this policy to at least one forever-friend.
Record your thoughts, insights, and overall reactions.
NEXT WEEK'S TOPIC
